Terms of Service

Last updated 21 October 2026

The short version

1. The agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and the individual developer based in India who operates Argus (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using Argus you accept them. If you use Argus for an organisation, you confirm you may accept them on its behalf, and “you” includes that organisation. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle data and is part of these terms.

2. Your account

3. The preview

Argus is in a public preview. It is free, and a self-service workspace can connect up to five servers. Features may change, appear or go away. If we ever introduce paid plans, we'll tell you in advance and nothing will be charged unless you choose a plan. If we decide to shut Argus down, we'll give at least 30 days' notice by email where we can, so you can download your data.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Found a security problem? Please report it privately through support. We welcome good-faith reports and won't take action against researchers who act responsibly and don't access other people's data.

5. Your data

You keep all rights to the data your servers send and the content you create in Argus. You let us store, process and display it only to provide Argus to you and your team, keep it secure, and fix problems. You can download it or delete it at any time from your account page.

6. The agent

We give you a personal, non-exclusive right to install and run the Argus agent on servers you monitor with Argus, while you use the service. The agent runs with the permissions you give it during installation; you're responsible for deciding where to install it. You can remove it at any time (sudo sh install.sh --uninstall).

7. Suspension and ending

You can stop using Argus and delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts the service or other customers at risk, or is required by law. Where reasonable we'll warn you first and give you a chance to export your data.

8. No warranty

Argus is provided “as is” and “as available”. Monitoring and alerts can be delayed, incomplete or missed: networks fail, servers go silent, email lands in spam. Don't rely on Argus as the only protection for systems where a missed alert could cause harm to people or serious loss.

9. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, revenue or data, and our total liability for any claim related to Argus is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and ₹1,000. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For material changes we'll email account owners at least 14 days before they apply. If you keep using Argus after that, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, you can delete your account.

11. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction. If you're a consumer, you also keep the protections of the law where you live. Before going to court, please contact us through support; most problems can be solved quickly.
